Self Guided Walk - Walking Trail
The Alpine Boardwalk
Parks Canada in partnership with the Banff Gondola have
created a unique experience. Open from
mid-May to late October, visitors can delight in an easy hiking tour along a
promenade-style walkway punctuated with interpretive self-guided displays. The
tour follows a boardwalk with stairs and platforms that reward the adventurous
with stunning new vistas, before eventually arriving at the Sulphur Mountain
Cosmic Ray Station, a National Historic Site.
We’re easy to get to only minutes by car from downtown Banff
(just follow our map). If you require transportation, Brewster Grayline offers
a bus service from May to October (call 762-6767 or contact www.brewster.ca),
taxi service is available year round.
The refreshing self-guided walk leads you to Sanson’s Peak.
The original 1903 stone built observatory is located here. In addition, it is
the foundation of the Cosmic Ray Station which is now a National Historic Site.
It’s all part of what makes the Banff Gondola experience truly unique!
